You’ve said “yes” to forever, and now it’s time to say “yes” to the dress! But before you book those bridal appointments, let’s talk about something that can make or break your shopping experience: having a realistic wedding gown budget.
Far too often, brides walk into our boutique with Pinterest boards full of intricate lace and sparkling beadwork, only to be surprised that those gowns are priced well above $1,000. We get it—you want the dream dress, and you want to stay within budget. But here’s the thing:
Why Designer Gowns Cost More (and Are Worth It!)
A wedding gown isn’t just “a white dress.” It’s a piece of wearable art.
✨ Lace: True bridal lace isn’t mass-produced cheaply—it’s crafted on specialty looms, and sometimes finished by hand. Those delicate floral patterns you love? They take hours to perfect.
✨ Beading: Every single crystal and pearl you see on a gown is sewn on by hand by skilled artisans. One gown can take hundreds of hours to complete.
✨ Quality fabrics & fit: The difference between a $300 online dress and a $1,500 designer gown isn’t just about brand names—it’s about how it feels, moves, and flatters your body.
When you buy from a reputable boutique, you’re paying for quality, craftsmanship, and a dress that was made to make you look and feel incredible.

Beware of Too-Good-To-Be-True Online Deals
You’ve probably seen those websites selling “designer” dresses for $200–$400. Sadly, many of those sites use stolen photos of real designer gowns, then send something completely different—cheap fabric, poor stitching, and a fit that’s nothing like the picture. Brides are often left devastated (and scrambling for a replacement dress).
We hand-select every designer we carry at Luxe and Lace based on quality and affordability for our brides in this area—so you can shop confidently knowing you’re getting the real thing.
The Truth About Discounts & Sample Sales
Yes, you can sometimes find amazing deals, but here’s what you should know:
✅ Older discontinued samples: Long-standing bridal shops sometimes offer huge discounts on gowns that have been discontinued for years. The price is great, but the styles can be dated.
✅ Our off-the-rack rack: We do have one rack of discounted gowns, but they are not discontinued—we simply parted ways with that designer and are clearing out those dresses.
✅ Big-box store sales: The store “named after a man” is famous for $99 sales. They can offer that because they own their manufacturing facilities and produce thousands of the same dress. Great for some brides, but don’t expect the same level of craftsmanship as a true designer gown.
Avoid Sticker Shock – Do a Little Research First
We never want a bride to fall in love with a gown, only to be heartbroken when it’s out of budget. That’s why we encourage you to do a little research before shopping. We’re even updating our Designers page to include price points, so you’ll know exactly which collections fit your budget.
